You came here to learn about Grant Casey, the self-proclaimed “Bone Guard”?  I don’t even like the guy, but he’s scary competent, definitely the type you want on your side in a dark alley in Istanbul:  smart, fast, resourceful, daring—maybe a little too much, if you know what I mean.

No surprise to me that he set up this mercenary squad. Protecting archaeological sites, my butt!  Instead, he’s chasing treasure maps all over the world, looking for lost tombs, facing down the Chinese Army, that kind of thing.

“Defending the past for the future,” that’s what he says, but seriously, international travel, high-stakes adventure, punching Nazis? Yeah, he’s all over that.  I don’t know why he had to live in my jurisdiction, though. I don’t need that kind of excitement.

We worked together back in the Army, the Special Forces Intelligence Unit.  Saved each other’s hide a thousand times and pulled off some crazy stunts in the name of defending the nation, but never got on well. I guess we’re all kind of screwed up—just ask my ex!

Casey’s parents died when he was like ten.  No idea what happened. Wound up on this reservation in Arizona, raised by a grandfather who hated him, primed to explode, or to join the army after 9/11, which he did. His grandmother gave him that love of history.  Then she died, too.  Par for the course, right?

After going against orders in the museum at Mazar-i-Sharif, saving all those people, Casey and the top members of the Unit, the ones who would’ve followed him anywhere—the brass strongly suggested they resign.  So he winds up in Boston, looking for a job, finding an assassin and a clue to the location of Genghis Khan’s tomb.  Being a thorn in my side all over again.

Guess it’s a mutual thing. He’s like the brother I never wanted, one who’d never leave me behind.  What d’you call it?  Found family.  Some days, I wish I could lose him again.

Anyway, you came here looking for action, adventure, heroes, and history—yep, the Bone Guard’s for you!  Join up with the Tomb Reader (who thinks of these names?) and get some free stories about how we met, and Casey’s deep cover work. Or jump right in with the novels.  Either way, you might want to buckle up, friend, it’s gonna be a thrill-ride!
